The Széchenyi thermal baths are the largest thermal complex in Europe!
It is really a must to go there during a holiday in Budapest! Built in the early 1900s in Baroque style, they have three large outdoor pools, one of which also has water games. Also, there are more than 10 internal pools with water at different temperatures. Saunas, relaxation areas and the possibility of having a massage. They are ideal to break the chaotic and hectic time of the city and have a relaxing moment in both in winter and in summer.
Useful information:
- How to reach the baths: take metro 1 (the yellow one) and get off at Széchenyi fürdő, the spa entrance is right nearby.
- Ticket cost: around 20 euros. The cost may vary according to the day.
- What to bring: bring your swimsuit, towel and slippers with you! You can also rent them but it is more convenient to bring them from home.
- When to go: If possible, avoid the most crowded tourist days and weekends. When the spas are overcrowded, they lose their charm. Early in the morning and on weekdays fewer people go and therefore you can enjoy the spaces more.
- Opening hours: from 6AM to 10PM. Some areas close at 8PM.
